Through this unique program, local teens create a 1-hour documentary film based on 3 local Holocaust survivors.
  • Films created in 2023 and 2024 are available for screenings at your school at no cost.
  • Screening opportunities can include a talkback and Q&A with the director, students, and/or featured Holocaust survivor.
  • Your school community is invited to our 2025 film premiere on March 23, 2025 at 4:00 pm!

Grandchildren of Holocaust survivors (3rd Generation-3Gs) share their compelling family stories in a 40-minute interactive presentation for classrooms or larger groups. All are available at no cost.
  • Speakers have been fully trained to share the experience of their grandparent during the Holocaust.
  • Interactive presentations with time for Q&A.
  • Presentations can be virtual or in-person.
  • Provide a human face to the past and a living link to the present.
  • Deepen listeners’ empathy and understanding of the impacts of antisemitism and hatred.
  • Help students think critically about their individual and collective roles in standing up to hatred and acting with courage and compassion.
  • Spark participants’ curiosity to learn more about history and their own family stories.

YOUnity CONFERENCES

The SYJCC partners with Suffolk County Community College’s Center for Social Justice & Human Understanding to bring together diverse students from high schools from across Suffolk County.
  • Unity Day Conference on October 25, 2024: Students will hear from an inspirational guest speaker and breakout sessions that focus on celebrating their unique identities.
  • International Holocaust Remembrance Day Performance on Friday, January 31, 2025 from 10:00 am-1:00 pm: Students are invited to a special performance of “A Girl in a Striped Dress” based on the lift of Holocaust survivor Rosalie Simon. Held at the Suffolk Y JCC in Commack. An extraordinary performance of one woman play based on the memoir of local Holocaust survivor Rosalie Simon. After the show, we will have a discussion and talk with the actress and playwright. Schools are invited to bring groups up to 40 students (grades 8-12). Registration is required, space is limited.   • “Combat Hate” Conference on March 12, 2025: Students will hear the incredible story of former neo-Nazi Jeffrey Schoep & his transformation from hate to empathy and compassion. They will then work in breakout sessions to create action plans for inclusive school environments.

Through a partnership with The Simon Wiesenthal Center’s Museum of Tolerance we can bring this incredible mobile museum bus directly to your school!
  • This 32 seat, state-of-the-art traveling human rights education center will bring innovative technology and interactive lessons directly to your parking lot for classroom visits.
  • Led by experiences educators, the MMOT uses a combination of immersive technology and facilitated dialogue to deliver its workshops.
  • Bookings are available Winter and Spring 2025.
