Star Playhouse at SYJCC continues its tradition of presenting lavish, fully costumed Broadway shows. Talent is drawn from throughout Long Island. Auditions are open to anyone who would like to perform.

Performing Arts Programs
Jump head first into the world of improv…
Intro to Improv: Ages 8-12 years
Intro to Improv is for kids who want an introduction to improvisation. Children will be lead through basic improv exercises and games which contribute to the development of social skills and confidence. The focus is on physical expression as well as verbal communication. Children will work together to develop their individual skills in a fun and low-pressure environment.
Improv for Teens: Ages 13-18
This class will focus on the fundamental principles of improvisation through exercises in agreement, commitment, spontaneity, collaboration, & active listening. This experience will require teens to take creative risks, make clear choices, tap into new forms of self-expression, and operate as members of a supportive ensemble.

Moms Who Sing!
It’s time for moms to do something for themselves! Moms Who Sing is an outlet for any mom who just loves to sing, no matter what kind of experience.

TACSY: THEATER ARTS COMPANY AT SUFFOLK Y
SYJCC’s youth theater program, TACSY, provides young people the opportunity to explore & perform musical theater together in an educational, supportive & professional environment. TACSY’s mission is to present high-quality musical theater productions performed by talented kids for family audiences, to provide a safe, creative & nurturing place where kids can harness their inherent energy, build their self-esteem & realize their true potential through the unique collaborative art form-that is musical theater. Young people gain confidence & learn commitment, responsibility, communication & teamwork skills that are critical to their success in both school & life.
DUE TO COVID PLEASE NOTE:
· Casts will rehearse in small groups
· Each group will rehearse in separate spaces simultaneously.
· Kids will be given a face shield for vocal rehearsals.
· Kids and parent volunteers will need to fill out a health form before attending each rehearsal.
· By the time the show dates arrive we will hopefully have a new status for live performances.
· If audiences are still not permitted, we will livestream and/or have videotape performances.
· If audiences are permitted but in a limited capacity, we will devise a schedule of multiple performances as necessary.
TACSY JR. COMPANY
The Junior Company is open to children in 1st – 6th grade. Rehearsals run every Sunday (with some holiday exceptions) 1:00pm – 4:00PM. Tech week for each show is the week before the show, Monday – Thursday, 5:00 – 8:30pm. A full schedule will be given out at the first rehearsal. All rehearsals are mandatory unless prior notice is given and approved.

Registration Fees: SYJCC Members: $240 Non-Members: $285
Registration for each show is due by the first week of rehearsal. If payment is not make by the third rehearsal, a $10 late fee will be incurred.
JR COMPANY AUDITION information for grades 1 – 6
Auditions: Date: Sunday Oct 18 Time: 11 – 5 PM
Tech Week: Dates: Jan 25 – 28 Times: 5:30 – 8:30 pm
Shows: Date: Saturday Jan 30 Time: 7:30 pm
Date: Sunday Jan 31 Time: 2:00 pm
There are 3 time slots for auditions. 11:00 – 12:30, 1:00 – 2:30 and 3:00 – 4:30. There is a waiting list if you get closed out of those times. We will see 15 people per time slot. We will teach everyone a song for them to audition with. ALL KIDS NEED A MASK WHEN LEARNING THE MUSIC. Due to restrictions there is a maximum number of kids we can cast so cuts will be made.

- Prepare 32 bars of a song in the style of the show. Bring sheet music for accompanist.
- Be prepared to dance with correct footwear.
- Bring a picture and resume.

TACSY Summer Theater Program: Grades 5-12
Monday – Friday, 10:00am – 4:00pm
Whether the dream is to perform on a Broadway stage, challenge and strengthen performance skills, or gain confidence through self-expression, our summer theater program is designed to help young artists flourish. Kids have the exciting opportunity to work one-on-one with Broadway-level professionals as they explore a wide range of skills in acting, singing, and dancing. No matter their experience level, our musical theatre campers are sure to learn new things and discover a deeper understand of theatre performance.

Broadway Boot Camp provides the essential training needed to audition well and to retain information when learning music and movement during rehearsals. Students will learn vocals and choreography of a different musical theatre number each week.

Professional level theater training with current Broadway performers, casting directors, talent agents and other successful industry professionals.
Hamilton Masterclass with Morgan Marcell
Meet and work with Hamilton Dance Captain and original cast member Morgan Marcell (Hamilton, Bandstand, Rent: Live, Moulin Rouge). Learn how to combine lyrics and original choreography, audition smarter and become a more in demand artist by honing all three of the ‘triple threat’ skills.
Morgan is an actor, dancer and director based in New York. Shortly after moving to the city, Morgan opened Hamilton on Broadway (OBC, Peggy Maria Cover, Dance Captain) and went on to originate musicals such as Bandstand and most recently, Moulin Rouge. She can be seen in the FX series Fosse/Verdon and also worked behind the camera as assistant choreographer to Andy Blankenbuehler. Morgan believes movement can tell powerful stories and her approach to the art includes intention, dynamics and technique. In this 2 hour Hamilton masterclass, learn how to combine lyrics and original choreography, audition smarter and become a more desirable artist by honing all three of the triple threats.
