SUPPORT SERVICES

The SYJCC offers a variety of support groups for individuals coping with the loss of a spouse or other family member, separation, divorce, and learning how to move forward with the guidance and support of mental health professionals. We also provide information and referral for mental health and other services, crisis management, entitlement guidance, and food insecurity. SUPPORT GROUPS

*NEW* On Our Own

A series of facilitated discussions on the single life. Open to singles 55+, divorced, widowed, non-partnered, newly or long-term living singly. Participants must register for the full series.

Tuesdays | 6:30-7:30 pm

Early Stages of Separation & Divorce

Going through a separation or divorce can be lonely and difficult. This group helps participants find a sense of connection and support during this challenging time.

Those who have recently experienced the death of a spouse can work through grief, examine feelings, and discover inner strengths, all within a caring and supportive environment.

Next Steps for Widow & Widowers

Those who have completed an initial bereavement group (as above) can continue in a supportive group of peers and facilitators. Participants begin to take “next steps” as new routines and interests start to take shape, even as they continue to grieve.

The Road Now Traveled
For Widows and Widowers

This group is for those who have participated in at least one Next Steps group and are seeking a more structured group format. Participants will support each other as they explore a series of topics newly relevant to their daily lives. Sessions will be enriched by optional outside readings and other resources, as well as occasional guest speakers.

Group is facilitated by a mental health professional.

Butler Support Group 

Being the parent or sibling of an individual with special needs comes with rewards alongside special challenges. Some may feel any combination of
overwhelmed, frustrated, confused, lost, and angry. Get support in your emotional journey. These groups will give you an opportunity to meet with others
and find a sense of connection and support.

All groups meet weekly for 8 sessions, led by mental health professionals.

Group in formation to begin in Fall 2023:
Parents of Kids (18 years and younger) with special needs
Parents of adults (19 years and older) with special needs
Adult siblings of adults with special needs
