Covid-19 Policies and Procedures

For your safety and the safety of others, the  SYJCC has put the following COVID rules and procedures in place.

As we welcome you in, help us keep the COVID-19 virus out! Failure or refusal to follow the rules will result in you being asked to leave the building.

Entering Facility
  • All members must enter through the main doors of the building prior to participating in any programs, fitness, activities or classes.
  • Members and guests starting at 2 years old, and staff, will be required to wear masks indoors at all times. NOTE – this applies to all areas of the building with the exception of programs operated under the guidance of OCFS.
  • Social distancing is encouraged. All members and guests are encouraged to maintain at least 6 feet of physical distancing from other individuals – this does not pertain to people from your household. All members will be required to sanitize their hands as they enter the facility.
  • Membership cards will be scanned. 
  • For the safety of our staff, we have removed all side chairs from their offices and have affixed reminder signs by the entrances to their offices saying please do not enter. In most cases, staff can answer your questions from sitting at their desks while you remain at the door. This is our way of making sure you stay safe as well. If you have difficulty standing, please let us know and our staff will meet you in the lobby where you can maintain the appropriate distance.
  • There will be no congregating in any areas of the building. Please take your conversations outside. 
Cleaning & Disinfecting
Our staff will be continuously sanitizing all frequently used and high-touch areas – door knobs, light switches, etc. Even with our enhanced cleaning and sanitizing protocols, we highly recommend that you maintain your own personal hygiene by not touching your face, eyes or nose. The building will receive an additional cleaning after all members have left for the evening.
  • All SYJCC staff who are returning to work must attend mandatory training regarding COVID-19 prevention and safety protocols. The SYJCC facility will be cleaned and sanitized throughout the day using products and protocols that meet CDC and EPA guidelines.
  • Larger areas will be fogged with an Electrostatic Disinfectant blower.
  • Floors will be cleaned with disinfected daily.
  • Installed MERV-13 filters and a special UV light treatment shown to kill viruses and other common pathogens in the HVAC systems
  • Frequent contact surfaces will be disinfected multiple times per day.
  • Health and hygiene reminders have been prominently placed including reminders about hand washing, social distancing, and other guidelines.
  • Touchless hand sanitizing stations are available throughout the building.
  • No-touch door openers have been replaced at the front doors of the building.


  • Everyone Swimming MUST HAVE a reservation.
  • Reservations can be made up to 3 days in advance.
  • You may not enter the pool deck earlier than 5 minutes before your allotted swim time.
  • 50-minute swim lanes will accommodate 2 swimmers per lane per session.
    • When possible, members sharing lanes should enter from opposite ends of the pool. If that is not possible, please maintain social distancing.
    • Only one person can stay at the end of the lane at any given time.
  • All benches will be needed for the next swim session. When you are done swimming, you will need to take your belongings and exit the pool area.  You may change in the changing room or in the locker room. The locker rooms are available and equipped with Merv 13 filters and a special UV light treatment shown to kill viruses and other common pathogens in the HVAC systems.
  • Masks must be worn at all times outside the pool as well as the locker room.
  • All pool swimming aides will not be provided at this time. You are welcome to bring your own.
  • Back-to-back swim times will not be permitted.
  • Please cancel your swim reservation at least 2 hours prior to your scheduled time so that we can move someone off of the waitlist. Please make sure you follow all prompts and receive your cancellation confirmation.
Fitness Center 
  • Fitness equipment has been arranged to optimize equipment use and provide for social distancing.
  • Proof of vaccination is required in order to remove masks while working out in the fitness center.
  • The locker rooms are available and equipped with Merv 13 filters and a special UV light treatment shown to kill viruses and other common pathogens in the HVAC systems.
  • Reservations must be made through our WellnessLiving App to reserve a timeslot to work out. 
  • Partitions have been placed between each cardio piece of equipment to allow for proper social distancing and to mitigate the spread of germs and exposure
  • Members will be required to wipe off all equipment they touch with sanitizing spray & paper towels provided before and after their workout.
  • Dedicated cleaning staff will be working in the Fitness Center at all times.
Group Exercise Classes
  • The number of group exercise classes will be reduced to accommodate time for ample cleaning and disinfecting.
  • Reservations must be made through our WellnessLiving App for group exercise classes as there is a maximum of 20 participants per class.
  • You must bring your own mat

  • Basketball in the Gymnasium may be reserved in 60-minute timeslots. You may reserve time in our WellnessLiving App for play in one-hour increments. Please limit reservations to one per household per day. Reservations can be made up to 3 days in advance and up until 30 minutes before the timeslot. Only reservations for up to the following 3 days will be visible on the App


  • Pickleball play is open and available in our gymnasium and our new outdoor pickleball courts.
